Garden Program

Project Host is the first soup kitchen in the country to have a garden on site. And this is one garden that earns its keep. In fact, since 1999, it has produced over four tons of produce for the hungry, and the culinary students have fresh produce to use to hone their skills.

Started in 1998 by Carol McLaurin and Kris Burton - two Master Gardeners who decided their passion for gardening could help people in their community - the Garden Program has become an integral part of Project Host's success. And others have jumped on board. Another volunteer organization - the Greater Greenville Master Gardener's Program - helps out by maintaining the garden on the first and third Saturdays of every month.

But keeping a garden productive takes more than a couple of Saturdays a month. The rest comes from volunteers like you. Maybe you've got a serious green thumb. Or love being outside. Or just need to play in the dirt for a few hours. The Garden Program needs you. Email us today for more info.

Food Rescue

Wait. Don’t throw that away. Project Host is always on the lookout for donated or “rescued” food from stores, restaurants, and individuals to help reduce our food costs. We already get a lot through Loaves and Fishes, but we can always use more. If you can help or would just like more info, contact us at projecthost@gmail.com
