creating a Facebook Fundraiser on behalf of Project Host

Step 1

Follow this link to get to a Project Host Facebook fundraiser setup page: https://www.facebook.com/fund/projecthostgvl

On a computer display, check the left-hand column of the page for next steps. On a mobile device, fields you need to edit will appear on your main screen as you scroll. If you have done a fundraiser for Project Host in the past, you may have to hit the plus sign (“+”) in the right-hand corner of your screen and select Project Host as your nonprofit to set up a new fundraiser.

Step 2

Add a fundraising goal, currency, fundraiser end date, and title for your fundraiser. Feel free to get creative with your title. You can find tips on titles here or borrow from one of the samples below:

Step 3

You will also be asked to tell your friends why you are raising money for Project Host. If you are comfortable, share some of your experiences with Project Host and what motivates you to be involved with our organization. You may also want to consider including some brief informational text about what Project Host does. Find tips here or see sample text below:

I never realized how many people in Greenville faced hunger until I started volunteering for Project Host five years ago. The experience has been both eye opening and incredibly rewarding.

I have met guests who have changed my perspective on life with their joy—people who have nothing, but are so rich in so many ways.

Please consider joining me in supporting Project Host. Donate today and help fight hunger in our community!

About Project Host

Project Host runs a traditional soup kitchen that feeds anyone who comes, no questions asked, but its also an innovative organization that houses the following programs: a culinary school to train the unemployed, addressing food insecurity at its root; a program that feeds Greenville area children, with meals created by the culinary students; a number of social enterprises including a food truck and bakery, where students train and work; and an urban garden that provides fresh produce for all Project Host meal programs.

Step 4

You’ll be asked to select a cover photo. Facebook will automatically pull the cover photo from Project Host’s Facebook page. You may use that or a photo of your own. You can find additional photos, quotes, and statistics to share on your fundraiser page here, and you are encouraged to share pictures of your own.

Step 5

Once you have chosen an image, hit CREATE (this will share the fundraiser on your timeline). After that, follow the prompts as desired invite your friends to contribute.

Step 6

If you would like to match donations to encourage more engagement with your fundraiser, navigate to the “More” tab under the cover photo and select “Match donations.” You will be prompted to enter your payment information.

Step 7

Promote among your social network as often as you like and follow your fundraiser’s success! Funds will automatically be sent to Project Host when your fundraiser ends. Thank you!
